Light the Park for the Holidays

‘Tis the season that King’s Grant Community League will once again light Witt Park on King’s Grant Road!

Please join us

Our small work crew will be at Witt Park on Saturday, December 2nd 9am-11am and again on Sunday, December 3rd 1pm-3pm.  Any resident able to lend a hand for any brief period would be most welcome (and greatly appreciated). We have all of the lights and power cords needed, but we will gladly accept any donations of white mini-lights that allow us to expand our display.  We are trying to move to LED lighting that is more durable and energy efficient, but we still have an area with white incandescent mini-bulbs.  If you have new or fully functional used light strings that you wish to donate, please drop them at the park during the above hours and we will try to add them to our display.  Most of the work is for adults, but children can help place light strings in the hedges.

If it is raining, we will reschedule for the following weekend.

Watch the sign at the park or on this web site for rescheduled times.

Independence Day Parade and Picnic

King’s Grant Community League will host its annual Independence Day parade and picnic beginning at 11am on Tuesday, July 4th.  The event is easy to enjoy… just show up and have fun.

KGCL really wants your participation in whatever transportation mode suits your interest:  bikes, strollers, golf carts, wagons, lawn mowers, vintage vehicles, decorated vehicles, tractors, fire trucks, motorcycles, or just walk.  Tell your neighbors.  Assemble in Blue Ridge Court across from Witt Park at 10:45am.

KGCL will give each child 12 years old or younger a large patriotic pinwheel for participating.  We will also award prizes in our bicycle decorating contest.

Help Light Witt Park

holiday-lights-signThe King’s Grant Community League will place holiday lights in Witt Park on Kings Grant Road next weekend (December 3-4).  Much of the work is simple – installing the light strings on the shrubbery.  Some of the other work is a bit more complicated as it involves hanging our lighted stars in the trees.  We invite our King’s Grant neighbors to come lend a hand with whatever you feel comfortable doing.  We will also hang our Christmas wreaths at the community entrance walls in Kings Grant Road.  We will work in two sessions:  Saturday from 9:00-11:00am and Sunday from 1:00-3:00pm.  Your King’s Grant Community League annual membership dues make this annual display possible.
