King’s Grant Community League will host its annual Independence Day parade and picnic beginning at 11am on Tuesday, July 4th. The event is easy to enjoy… just show up and have fun.
KGCL really wants your participation in whatever transportation mode suits your interest: bikes, strollers, golf carts, wagons, lawn mowers, vintage vehicles, decorated vehicles, tractors, fire trucks, motorcycles, or just walk. Tell your neighbors. Assemble in Blue Ridge Court across from Witt Park at 10:45am.
KGCL will give each child 12 years old or younger a large patriotic pinwheel for participating. We will also award prizes in our bicycle decorating contest.
City Councilman Jim Wood will headline the program for our general meeting of members on Thursday, May 18 at 7:30 PM. Councilman Wood lives in King’s Grant and represents the Lynnhaven District on the City Council. He has served since first elected in 2002. He has deep roots in our neighborhood – graduating from Princess Anne High School and later serving as a Virginia Beach Police Officer. The many roles he serves in city government include leadership in transportation initiatives, flood prevention, and technology. Councilman Wood is an annual guest at our KGCL meetings. He will provide remarks about major topics that are being tackled by the city government, and he will take questions from members. Mark your calendar and plan to attend. Our meeting begins at 7:30pm at King’s Grant Elementary School.
Spring is here and the King’s Grant Community League is preparing for its 6th annual yard sale at The Triangle in front of 7-Eleven. It will be held on Saturday, May 6th, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The rain date will be May 13th.
We will again provide 12’x12’ spaces for a charge of $5.00 for Community League members and $15.00 for nonmembers. You can bring your own tables or rent 8ft. tables from us for a fee of $10.00 each. We’ll also provide a food booth and portable restroom for your convenience.
We ask that you only sell your personal items that would normally be sold at a yard or garage sale. We are not licensed to sell things that are made or bought for resale as part of a business.
For more information and to reserve a space and/or tables, please contact Sally Huntington at 404-3503 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope you’ll join us this year at our KGCL event as a vendor or visitor to make this our best sale ever.
